A good design they couldn’t touch

New Day Advisory had a good-looking website built by another web design company. The colors were bright and inviting, and the content, images and graphics fit their brand.

The problem

They couldn’t update it. At all. The site ran on WordPress, the platform we build on most, but the custom theme was cryptic and outdated. Content was hidden behind custom post types everywhere, for no clear reason.

When Sam Davis, principal at New Day Advisory, asked us to add some content, we asked to look under the hood first. The site’s structure was more maze than framework.

Why rebuild instead of patch

Adding pages to the old theme would have meant building on a structure nobody could follow, and every future change would have hit the same wall. Rebuilding once gave them a site sized to what their team will actually maintain.

The fix

Adding content turned into a rebuild. With the client’s approval, we rebuilt the site from the ground up. We kept the existing layout, so the look their clients knew stayed the same, and rebuilt everything underneath with our standard WordPress tools so the team can make changes themselves.

The result

The new site is a resource for current and future clients. New Day Advisory wants to be known for expertise in managing business resources in Middle Tennessee, and the site gives them a platform they can keep current to show it. When a page needs to change, their team can make the edit in WordPress without untangling someone else’s code first.

If your site is hard for your team to edit, send us a note.
