About GMC

Greenville Mentoring Collaborative (GMC) is a nonprofit that connects young people in Greenville County with mentoring. It supports local mentoring organizations through advocacy, capacity building, and mentor recruitment, with the goal of closing the opportunity gap for young people.

The problem with the old site

GMC’s website was built on Wix. As the organization stepped up its advocacy and recruiting, the platform got in the way. Design options were limited, and managing data was slow. The partner directory was the hardest part: keeping partner information current and presenting it in a useful way took more effort than it should have.

Moving to WordPress

We migrated the site to WordPress for more flexibility, better performance, and a cleaner look.

The core of the new site is a custom post type for the partner directory. Each partner organization gets its own page listing:

  • The services it offers
  • Its mentoring requirements
  • Contact details

The directory is laid out so people can browse, find a program that fits, and reach out directly.

Visuals and calls to action

The design uses photos that reflect GMC’s mission, paired with clear buttons to become a mentor or donate. The homepage leads with GMC’s message, and the directory puts partner organizations front and center.

With WordPress, GMC’s team manages its own content and can add pages and partners as the network grows.

The result

  • Modern design. A clean, professional look that fits GMC’s focus on youth and community.
  • A working directory. Partner pages built on custom post types make information easy to find and act on.
  • Clearer paths. Better navigation makes it easier to become a mentor or give.

GMC’s partners now have a platform that shows their work, and people who want to mentor have one place to start.

Another Greenville nonprofit, Upstate International, runs its memberships and classes through a WordPress site we built.
